Bows are built in the bowmaking workshop of the Shibata family in Kyoto since
the end of the 16th century mainly by traditional manual work.

Since Shibata IIXX. the head of the family holds the title “Bowmaker of
the emperor”. The order shall contain the approximate strength (in kg) and the
legth (Nami Sun, Ni Sun oder Nobi Sun).

Special designs (e.g. varnished bow) and price (starting at about 500.- €) need to be agreed directly with Shibata Sensei.

Our members will be glad to help you with information and consultation about the yumis of Shibata Sensei XXI.  

Usually Shibata Sensei XXI. visits Europe on times a year and will
deliver the ordered bows.
